The Royal College of Midwives is the voice of maternity services. We are the UK’s only trade union and professional organisation led by midwives for midwives, student midwives and the maternity teams who support them. The vast majority of the midwifery profession are our members. The RCM promotes midwifery, quality maternity services and professional standards. We support and represent our members individually and collectively in all four UK countries. We influence on behalf of our members and for the interests of the women and families for which they care.

Why have RCM joined ‘Working with’?

Gill Walton“The Royal College of Midwives is committed to helping midwives and support workers deliver the very highest standards of maternity care to women and their families. We know that to do this means looking after midwives and MSWs themselves, so we are asking all NHS organisations to support Heads of Midwifery in the UK to sign up to the RCM’s Caring for You Charter to show their commitment to improve midwives’; student midwives’; and maternity support workers’ health, safety and wellbeing at work. Partnering with and supporting Cavell gives us the opportunity to raise issues around hardship and to work with other organisations committed to ensuring that midwives and MSWs who may face financial crisis are helped to get their lives back on track.”
